Maitri Retreat
Join Shannon Warwick and Gretchen Geurts for a weekend retreat practicing Maitri, Sanskrit for loving-kindness. Loving-kindness heals our wounds and we need safe spaces in which we can heal. In this retreat, we develop Maitri through movement, meditation and restorative practices to balance and nourish our energy systems. About Gretchen Geurts (GG):
In 2006, on the island of Maui, Gretchen Geurts (GG) began her yoga journey while cooking at Kolealea Retreat Center. Tedd Surman, founder & director of Yoga Awareness invited her to practice for free in his studio. Geurts soon found herself deepening her study by assisting yoga classes while cooking at Kolealea. This practice in movement led her to study ATS Belly Dance at the Studio Maui. Through dedication and hard work, GG became an instructor in both practices and by 2008 she opened her own donation-based home studio where she hosted renowned yogis and belly dancers for the Haiku Community.
In 2011, GG found her roots back in Door County, where she met Marnie Massey. Together the idea of Ironwood Yoga Studio was born and Massey officially opened the doors in the spring of 2014. Geurts taught the first ever yoga class at Ironwood and feels honored to have had the incredible opportunity to expand her practice and share her knowledge with the local community in this sacred space. Full circle, GG hopes to connect her life's work of yoga instruction, belly dance and private chef by offering Ironwood's first Retreat alongside Shannon Warwick.
